📰 TCG News
Note: Some updates may touch on wider Pokémon news beyond the TCG.
🔵 Chaos Rising Prerelease Promos Likely Revealed Early
Crobat and Goodra from Ninja Spinner are getting new alternate art promos in Traditional Chinese. In Hong Kong and Taiwan, players who win three rounds of Ninja Spinner tournaments will receive a promo pack with one of the two cards, and based on the pattern from previous sets like Inferno X, these are almost guaranteed to become English prerelease promos for Chaos Rising.
The other two prerelease promos will likely be the alternate art Ampharos and Delphox from the previously revealed Ninja Spinner Value Pack. Ninja Spinner released March 13 in Japan and hits Hong Kong and Taiwan on March 27, with its cards feeding into Chaos Rising's English release on May 22. (Source: PokeBeach)
🔵 Gem Pack Vol. 5 Brings Pokémon Horizons Cards to China
Gem Pack Volume 5 will be released in China on April 24, returning to the Pokémon Horizons theme from the very first Gem Pack in January 2025. New cards include Illustration Rares of Captain Pikachu (with Friede), Floragato (with Liko), Crocalor (with Roy), and Quaxwell (with Dot). Each is an evolution of a card from Gem Pack 1, with Captain Pikachu being an alternate art reprint. These are unlikely to ever be released in English.
Each 4-card booster contains all holos from a pool of 28 Pokémon, each with six holo variations plus an Illustration Rare, totaling 196 different cards in the set. Beyond the four new IRs, the remaining should be reprints of IRs already released in English. (Source: PokeBeach)
🔵 Pokémon Go's 30 Billion Photos Now Training Delivery Robots
Niantic Spatial, spun from Niantic Inc., has converted a decade of crowdsourced Pokémon Go player photos into a street-level mapping model built for robots. Over the years, players voluntarily submitted photos and videos of public landmarks and urban intersections, building a dataset of 30 billion ground-level images spanning nearly every major city on the planet.
That model now powers Coco Robotics' roughly 1,000 delivery bots in cities like LA, Chicago, Miami, and Helsinki. Niantic Spatial's Visual Positioning System bypasses GPS by comparing live robot camera feeds against the image database in real time, solving a persistent accuracy problem in dense urban areas where tall buildings interfere with satellite signals.
