📰 TCG News
Note: Some updates may touch on wider Pokémon news beyond the TCG.
🔵 Pokemon Company Launches AI Competition to Build the Strongest TCG Player
The Pokemon Company has launched the Pokemon TCG AI Battle Challenge, inviting developers worldwide to build AI agents that play Standard format matches by analyzing board states and choosing optimal plays in real time. Organizers framed it as a test of how AI handles games with hidden information and randomized draws, unlike solved games such as Chess or Go.
The Kaggle ranking stage runs June through August 2026, with the top eight teams each receiving $30,000 and advancing to a live final in Japan in September, where first place earns an additional $50,000. It's run in partnership with HEROZ and the Matsuo Institute with support from Google and NVIDIA, and marks one of the first times Pokemon has publicly explored AI.

🔵 “Are You Perhaps with Team Rocket?” Trademark Filed!
Pokemon Japan filed a trademark for "Are You Perhaps with Team Rocket?" under the same categories typically used for TCG set names and products. A question mark in the name is unusual and has never appeared in a set title, though past trademarks like Battle Academy have turned out to be real products.
With 30th Celebration releasing this fall, speculation is that it could tie to a premium Team Rocket themed product similar to the made-to-order Team Rocket Special Case released for Pokemon's 20th anniversary in 2016.

🔵 “Storm Emeralda” and “Delta Reign” TCG Sets Officially Teased
Pokemon Japan revealed the Storm Emeralda set alongside a new Ruler of the Skies set for TCG Pocket, both featuring a Mega Rayquaza ex and releasing July 31. In English, Storm Emeralda will be released as Delta Reign on November 6, the first time the English set's name and date have been revealed.
This also marks the first time Pokemon has revealed a Pocket set and physical TCG set simultaneously, with three sets teased at once.
